Donations to this beautiful project are tax deductible, and just $10 gets you: “a special audio visual recording by Ali Hossaini from Oceanic only available to Kickstarter supporters.”
There are more details, as well as some audio samples, posted in the Updates section of the Kickstarter page.
Edit: Done! Each of the comics is off to a new home now. Cheers.
Dear internet,
Some time ago, Brian Wood and Ryan Kelly created the delightful comic Local.
The collected hardcover edition is a lovely well-designed thing, and I quite recommend it. (In fact, it is currently on sale at amazon.ca).
However, since I have the lovely hardcover version, I want to free up some space by giving away the single issues I bought back when they first came out. The stories are best read in order, but they do each stand on their own fairly well as a single story, so I’m going to give one out to each person who asks. If you ever wanted to check Local out, but didn’t want to commit to the collection right off the start, now is your chance for a free taste. If you like it, buy yourself the hardcover collection.
I’ve made a form where you can enter your mailing address. It will automatically turn off when I’m out of comics. I’m happy to mail a comic off to you even if you’re not on the same continent as I am.
XO

The Weekly Self Portrait Project
Today I’m embarking on a new, weekly self portrait project. Like my 365 Days project, I hope to experiment, test my boundaries, and make interesting images. I am calling this project “Abundant”.
I enjoy creating monsters, handling blood and broken things, making fantasies real, costumes, characters, transformation, metamorphosis and general weirdness.
I honestly cannot say how long I will do this project, but in time, that will answer itself. I invite you to join me on this ride. This series of photos for this week is called “Hunger” because that’s what I’ve been feeling recently, a great hunger for creating something new, for experimentation.

Dear internet,
I’ve moved my For The Love of Montreal blog over to tumblr where it won’t be as difficult for me to update once a week or so. The title was already taken here on tumblr, but that small issue was easily and happily resolved by converting to French instead:
It will almost certainly be heavily dominated by images from the hill we affectionately call a mountain, though I suspect that surprises very few of you.
XO,
Veronika

Not only is this really interesting, but the speaker is entirely charming in his presentation style.
5 billion people in the world don’t have access to washing machines. Think about that for a minute.
Please check out my new collection of short stories called Trash and Vaudeville. The cost is only $9.99 (plus S&H) and it makes a great stocking stuffer. It’s filled with gritty prose about the beautiful losers that fall through the cracks, and includes some great artwork by Eliza Gauger,

“Young man if you’re dating a woman who boasts of being a feminist, who uses every 4-letter word in the Marine Corps manual, who wants no children, who wants to drag you around like a dog at the end of a rope… RUN!!!!!!!”
I guess it’s a good thing Cameron doesn’t like running.
